Role Description
The Service Engineer – Marine Propulsion is a full-time, on-site role based in the United Arab Emirates.
The role covers inspection, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of marine propulsion systems on a variety of vessels.
The position may involve work in shipyards and onboard vessels, regional travel, and occasional extended or flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform scheduled and reactive maintenance.
- Support installation and alignment of engines, gearboxes, shafts, propellers, and control systems.
- Conduct tests and sea trials and prepare service reports and technical documentation.
- Advise clients on proper operation and preventive maintenance.
- Collaborate with technical teams and follow safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Technical expertise in marine engines, gearboxes, shaft lines, propellers, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of marine or industrial equipment.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of electrical and electronic propulsion systems, instrumentation, and monitoring.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Awareness of marine safety standards, environmental regulations, and onboard and shipyard work practices.
- Relevant technical qualification or diploma/degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior marine service engineer or marine technician experience is highly beneficial.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work on-site, travel within the UAE, and adapt to offshore conditions and varying schedules.
