Role Description
The Senior Welding Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Qatar, responsible for overseeing welding quality and compliance on construction, maintenance, and industrial projects.
This role includes performing visual and advanced inspections of welded joints, reviewing welding procedures, and verifying that work meets project specifications, applicable codes, and client standards.
The Senior Welding Inspector prepares inspection reports, maintains accurate documentation, and coordinates with project engineers, site supervisors, and quality teams to resolve non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
Daily activities involve monitoring welding operations, conducting welder performance assessments, supporting non-destructive testing (NDT) activities, and participating in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
The role also includes mentoring junior inspectors, contributing to continuous improvement of welding practices, and ensuring strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in welding inspection, including visual inspection, review of welding procedures, and verification of compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, isometrics, welding symbols, material specifications, and method statements relevant to oil and gas and industrial projects.
- Experience working on large-scale projects with major clients in sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, or infrastructure, preferably with organizations similar to Ashghal, Qatargas, QP, or RLOC.
- Solid understanding of quality control and quality assurance processes, including documentation, reporting, non-conformance handling, and coordination with QA/QC teams.
- Relevant certifications such as CSWIP, AWS-CWI, or equivalent welding inspection qualifications; NDT Level II certifications (e.g., RT, UT, MT, PT) are an advantage.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, with a demonstrated commitment to safe work methods in construction and industrial environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, technicians, contractors, and client representatives.
