About the Role
McDermott seeks a Senior Welding Engineer to develop welding execution plans, qualify procedures, and provide metallurgical support for fabrication and marine projects. The role requires an MS in Welding or BS/IWE/EWE in Welding/Metallurgical/Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience.

- Develop the Project Welding Execution Plan that defines the full scope of Weld Procedures required, schedule of qualification, quantity of electrodes and materials required for qualification
- Ensure that proper priorities relevant to project schedules are established and review progress
- Responsible for seeking the review and approval of all Project Weld Procedures through direct and indirect communications with the Customer and Certifying Authority
- Work with the Welding Engineering group and Welding department to execute R&D developments projects/goals identified
- Maintain contacts with technical groups to maintain updates on developments in welding technology
- Coordinate with test houses regarding testing of welding qualification coupons
- Coordinate the technical selection of electrodes based on their physical, chemical, and corrosion properties as well as considering their weldability and economics
- Conduct regular review of Welding Consumables requirements v/s availability to ensure availability of the same
- Review project schedules, material control reports, and welding consumable estimates to determine changes to the welding execution plan
- Guide Welding Engineers on day to day matters and mentor trainee welding engineers to have a better understanding of Codes, Standards, and Project requirements
- Assist in resolving metallurgical, welding, and quality related problems, by investigating the cause of failures and prescribing fit for purpose
- Assist in the support and development of automatic/mechanized welding systems
Requirements
- MS in Welding
- BS Degree (4 year degree) or IWE or EWE in Welding Engineering/Metallurgical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years directly related to Welding Engineering, Metallurgy/Materials in Fabrication/Construction Industry
- Welding Inspection qualification preferred
- TQM Education preferred

Job Overview
- The Senior Welding Engineer shall provide deliverables from Welding Engineering and running of development projects or tasks and provide metallurgical consultative service to operating groups (Fabrication / Marine).
- The Senior Welding Engineer liaises with Operations Manager (Fabrication / Marine), Discipline Managers, PMT, Customers, Operations/Field Engineers, QC/NDT Engineers, Client representatives, Certifying Authorities, Other Technical Agencies (for e.g., TWI, DNVGL).

Essential Qualifications and Education
- MS in Welding.

Preferred Qualifications and Education
