The Opportunity
Join Arup’s India-based Cities, Design and Planning team as a Senior Transport Modeller.
Support projects across the Middle East, particularly the UAE and KSA, while contributing to projects and initiatives in India.
Collaborate with the Dubai team and Arup’s wider global network to deliver transport modelling and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver traffic analysis and transport modelling studies.
- Conduct transit operations analysis and intermodal planning.
- Develop bespoke modelling tools and automate workflows using scripting languages such as Python or VBA.
- Develop and review calculations, drawings, programmes, and cost estimates.
- Manage and produce project documentation, reporting, and presentations.
- Coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
- Support project management and mentor junior staff.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a transportation specialisation.
- Minimum seven years of postgraduate experience in transport modelling, planning, or related work.
- Master’s degree in Transport Planning is beneficial.
- Proficiency in VISUM and CUBE is essential.
- Experience with SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, VISSIM, Aimsun, GIS, Python, and VBA is desirable.
- Strong understanding of trip generation, demand analysis, and traffic engineering fundamentals.
- Middle East experience and familiarity with UAE guidelines and models are desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication, planning, organisational, and time management skills.
Additional Experience
- Experience applying and interpreting models and building bespoke modelling tools.
- Experience in big data analytics, active travel strategies, and future mobility trends is desirable.
- Ability to manage projects, support bids and client relationships, and contribute to business development.
