We are looking for a Senior Technology Engineer to join our national team, providing technical leadership and expertise in the identification and development of solutions for operational technology assets.
The role will support the development and implementation of national approaches to technology renewals, ensuring adherence to defined asset policies, standards and national processes.
You will help develop consistent ways of working across the organisation and provide technical guidance to regions in the planning and delivery of operational technology renewals.
The programme covers a range of roadside operational technology assets, including CCTV, traffic signals, message signs and associated communications infrastructure.
Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.
• Ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
• Lead the development and technical assurance of solutions for improvements and/or renewals of operational technology assets, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new technologies, buildability, operational impacts and costs.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to regional teams in the planning and delivery of operational technology renewals, identifying and resolving technical issues, sharing learning and driving consistent approaches, and contributing to the successful delivery of the national Road Period Technology Programme.
• Provide technical expertise to Project Managers and regional teams through technical assurance of equipment and materials, assessment of contractor compliance, site and inspection support where required, and review of relevant Health and Safety documentation.
• Undertake technical reviews of third-party designs and proposals to ensure that they comply with standards, design briefs and operational requirements.
About you
• Degree or HND in a relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge and practical experience of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) or comparable operational technology systems.
• Experience supporting the planning, design, assurance or delivery of infrastructure or technology renewal programmes.
• Good working knowledge of CDM 2015 and its application to infrastructure projects.
