Role Overview
We’re looking for a versatile technical writer to join the @NetAppDocs team to lead documentation efforts for on-premises and hybrid-cloud storage and data management products and services. You will be part of the team that delivers and maintains the content within docs.netapp.com, NetApp’s technical documentation service. You will work side-by-side with a talented group of technical writers, leveraging open-source authoring tools to deliver accurate, timely, relevant content to NetApp customers and partners. You will work collaboratively with product managers, engineers, support and field personnel as a customer experience advocate and content expert on cross-functional product teams. Your bias will be toward action, simplicity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
As a writer with the NetApp docs team, you will document new products and services and be responsible for updating or re-architecting documentation for existing products and services. You will manage feedback loops with customers and internal stakeholders, and you will collaborate with product managers to understand customers’ needs. You will research and translate complex technical material. Your job will be to listen to, synthesize, and distill requirements from multiple constituencies into concise, actionable, simple-to-use documentation. Your job will also be to grow professionally at NetApp. You will work with other technical writers and editors to improve your writing and theirs.

Job Requirements
- Experience working directly with product development teams • Experience researching, planning, and designing product documentation • Experience writing technical documentation in a collaborative, multi-author environment • Experience authoring in AsciiDoc or a similar lightweight markup language (for example, Markdown) • Experience with GitHub or other version-control systems • Experience working with complex on-premises and hybrid cloud technologies • An understanding of the software development lifecycle • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excellent command of standard American English syntax and grammar • Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment of other writers, editors, and cross functional peers to support product requirements • Ability to understand and follow NetApp publications standards and production processes • Ability to resolve problems and deliver high-quality results • An owner’s mindset
Education
• A minimum of 8 years of technical writing experience is required. 9 to 11 years of technical writing experience is preferred. • A Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in English, Journalism, Computer Science or Engineering is required. • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple, complex technical projects
