About the Role
KWESST seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Canadian Armed Forces LC4ISR program. The role involves system engineering throughout the project lifecycle, including specification, design, development, integration, test, and acceptance of mission systems.

Responsibilities
- Tailor the system engineering processes, practices and tools
- Estimate and appropriately decompose work in an agile lifecycle process
- Provide timely and accurate status updates
- Develop preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements
- Review and validate internal and subcontractor designs, plans, and schedules
- Identify, characterize, and describe issues in the system or its design through problem reports, documentation and design reviews
- Author technical documentation to capture system and subsystem designs including architecture, interfaces, and installation elements
- Support development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures
- Collaborate with other functions during implementation and integration of system and subsystem designs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs are consistent with end user needs
- Help resolve technical issues arising during implementation, integration and testing
- Support installation and/or integration testing remotely or on customer site
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of Defence systems project experience on military or military command and control software systems
- Active SECRET security clearance
- Systems Integration experience: hardware and software (COTS and/or custom developed) components into new or existing systems
- Demonstrated experience in the field of ISR, C4ISR
- Demonstrated experience in preparation of technical concept documents, design documents, test documents, system specifications or technical proposals
- Demonstrated experience in communicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer science, Information Technology, or suitable engineering/technical field

Job Description
- KWESST is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to become a part of our engineering team. This position will be to support the Canadian Armed Forces as part of LC4ISR group for the Department of National Defence’s (DND).
- As a Senior Systems Engineer, you should have a demonstrated record of leadership and excellence and should possess the ability to successfully complete new challenges in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Tailor the system engineering processes, practices and tools
- Estimate and appropriately decompose work in an agile lifecycle process
- Provide timely and accurate status updates

Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of Defence systems project experience on military or military command and control software systems

- Demonstrated experience in product life cycle management is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of technical concept documents, design document, test documents, system specifications or technical proposals
- Demonstrated experience in communicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.
- Familiarity with the following is an asset: TBMS, ORBAT Manager, TAK, and SitaWare
- Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams in the development of tactical systems, frameworks or strategies.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer science, Information Technology, or a suitable engineering or technical field is a must.
