Role overview
Lead mechanical formulation of new satellite systems, including structures, mechanisms, and satellite bus configurations.
Support civil, national security, and commercial business capture from Rocket Lab’s Long Beach headquarters.
Manage mechanical systems engineering processes, customer requirement validation, technical budgets, and configuration trades.
Responsibilities
- Develop lightweight satellite bus configurations, structures, mechanisms, and deployment systems.
- Maintain mass and mechanical budgets, system requirements, verification techniques, and analyses.
- Plan tests and analyze structural, thermal, and vibration data.
- Own mechanical technical development from conceptual design through production, test, and operation.
- Create CAD product definitions, production drawings, procedures, interface specifications, CONOPS, schedules, vendor plans, and budgets.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another technical discipline.
- At least 5 years of aerospace engineering experience.
- Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
