The Ministry of Highways is seeking an experienced, collaborative engineer with strong technical, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. As Senior Surfacing Standards Engineer in the Bridges and Materials Branch, you will join a provincial team of technical specialists that provides engineering expertise and support to ministry staff, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other government agencies.
Based in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, or Regina, this position reports to the Director of Materials and Surfacing.
Using your experience in pavement and road design, condition assessment, construction, and road materials engineering, you will lead the development and documentation of technical standards, specifications, and best practices for highway pavement and surfacing design. You will evaluate pavement loading; conduct field condition assessments, site investigations, and forensic reviews; and provide technical guidance for the design, construction, maintenance, and preservation of provincial highways. Independent travel to project sites throughout Saskatchewan will be required.
You will also evaluate new processes and engineering technologies for adoption and manage existing test sections and trials. You will prepare standards and technical reports and deliver technical presentations and training sessions. Success in this role requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
