About the Role
The Senior Specialist, Data Engineering builds and operates scalable, governed data pipelines and data products on Ooredoo's Google Cloud Platform data platform.
The data platform supports operational, network, analytical, reporting, and AI/ML workloads across customer value management, marketing, digital sales, and customer care.
The role works with a data platform delivery partner, data science teams, and commercial teams while integrating and progressively migrating on-premises sources.
Role Accountabilities
- Develop and optimize real-time analytical data stores and feature stores for data-science model training, validation, and deployment in Dataiku.
- Build real-time data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment processes using Informatica, advanced SQL, or Dataiku.
- Translate analytical and modelling needs into production-ready data assets, features, and reusable data frameworks.
- Integrate datasets with SAP BusinessObjects and QlikSense for reporting and business intelligence.
- Implement data quality, metadata, validation, monitoring, and governance processes.
- Optimize platform performance and enterprise data warehouse workloads.
- Develop standards, coding guidelines, reusable components, and end-to-end technical documentation.
- Partner with Technology and Infrastructure teams on secure, compliant, and scalable deployments.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline is required.
- Ten years of experience in a similar role is required.
- Prior data engineering, ETL development, and enterprise data warehousing experience is required.
Technical Skills
- Strong GCP experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, and Cloud Storage is required.
- Expertise in Informatica, advanced SQL, and Python is required.
- Experience with analytical data stores, feature stores, curated datasets, and dimensional, star-schema, and third-normal-form modelling is required.
- Experience with SAP BusinessObjects and QlikSense is required; Looker experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, privacy, and security is required.
- Awareness of vector stores and AI/ML or GenAI data pipelines is advantageous.
Functional Context
Ooredoo's AI Hub division executes the data and AI roadmap and supports a data-driven culture.
GCP hosts the data platform for analytics and machine-learning workloads, while Azure hosts GenAI and agentic AI workloads.
The role supports commercial growth, cost optimization, customer experience improvements, and digital transformation.
