What you will do
- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and when needed C++.
- Define best practices for architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, Windows 10/11+ compatibility, and maintainability.
- Integrate and validate accessibility APIs, including focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
- Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning and roadmap decisions.
- Own features across conception, design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.
- Diagnose bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI or a similar framework, C#, and XAML.
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and managed .NET to native-code interoperation.
- Experience designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications.
- Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and accessible software development.
- Strong fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and concurrent or asynchronous programming.
- Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and consensus-building skills.
- A user-centric approach to accessible and intuitive software.
Preferred and bonus experience
- Native Windows code experience with C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM is preferred.
- Automated UI testing experience is preferred.
- Desktop performance optimization, localization, telemetry, crash reporting, and CI/CD experience are bonuses.
- Ownership of feature areas, refactoring, and technical debt management is a bonus.
