Overview
The Azure HorizonDB team is building a cloud-native, fully managed PostgreSQL-compatible database service for mission-critical and AI-powered applications.
The service uses disaggregated compute and storage architecture to provide low-latency performance, high availability, and cloud-scale scalability.
The Senior Software Engineer will work across distributed systems, database technologies, storage, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-availability capabilities, including resiliency, failure detection, recovery mechanisms, and reduced customer impact during failures.
- Build high-availability and high-performance distributed storage focused on scalability, reliability, data durability, and predictable performance.
- Deliver automation for build, validation, deployment, testing, and operational workflows.
- Develop data migration capabilities and tools for reliable movement of customer data into and across Azure HorizonDB.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools across design, development, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and operational workflows.
- Participate in on-call rotations, investigate incidents, and collaborate with partner teams on complex issues.
- Contribute to technical designs, architecture, product direction, and operational excellence.
