Key skills for this role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, testing, and evolving patient-facing applications within the UTS platform. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on React or React Native and TypeScript, alongside development in Node.js for backend-for-frontend and configuration services. You will work across web and mobile experiences and contribute to software that operates as part of a larger, highly integrated clinical trial ecosystem.
Beyond writing code, you will be expected to take ownership of technical problems, contribute to engineering decisions, collaborate closely with product and design partners, and mentor other engineers. You should be comfortable receiving feedback, learning from mistakes, and continuously improving both your own work and the way the team develops software.
We are also building an AI-driven engineering culture. We expect our engineers to actively incorporate modern AI development tools into their workflows and identify opportunities to improve engineering speed, quality, testing, and problem-solving through AI.
AI-Native Engineering Culture
AI-assisted development is becoming a core part of how our engineering teams work. In this role, you will:
Use AI coding assistants, agentic development workflows, and other AI-enabled engineering tools as part of your day-to-day development process.
Explore practical ways to use AI to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review.
Take full ownership of AI-generated code and apply the same standards for review, testing, security, and quality as you would to code written manually.
Stay current with advances in AI-assisted software development and help translate new capabilities into practical improvements for the team.
Share effective AI development practices with other engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous experimentation and learning.
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and maintain patient-facing web and mobile functionality using React or React Native and TypeScript.
Develop and enhance backend-for-frontend and configuration services using Node.js.
Build and consume APIs, including GraphQL, that connect frontend experiences with the broader UTS platform.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using modern software engineering and test-driven development practices.
Take ownership of features from technical design and development through testing, release, and production support.
Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
