Design, build, and operate AI-powered product capabilities from prompt and evaluation design through production services.
The role is based in the Sydney office on a hybrid basis, with three days per week in the office.
Product delivery
- Design, build, and ship AI-powered capabilities across the in-house Collect platform.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction for AI agents.
- Own work from conception to production, including monitoring and continuous improvement.
AI safety and reliability
- Build orchestration, compliance evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop escalation for AI agents.
- Build observable and resilient services and own production behavior in front of customers.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents in owned systems and apply the resulting learnings.
Experimentation and collaboration
- Prototype new models and capabilities, measure results, and turn successful experiments into durable production systems.
- Use AI to reduce manual work as a first-class priority.
- Communicate trade-offs clearly, provide code reviews, and mentor engineers through pairing and feedback.
What we are looking for
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience is required.
- Genuine interest in building AI products, including AI voice and AI-driven digital communications.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in day-to-day engineering.
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design and proficiency in Test-Driven Development.
- Strong communication, ownership, judgment, and comfort operating with ambiguity.
- Care for safety and quality when building AI for a regulated industry.
Nice to have
- Event sourcing or CQRS experience.
- Go and AWS serverless experience, including Lambda and SNS/SQS.
- Hands-on LLM application experience with prompt engineering, evaluations, or agent orchestration.
- Voice or contact-centre platform experience.
- Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tooling experience.
Workplace
- This position is based in the Sydney office on a hybrid basis with three days per week in the office.
Compensation
- Pay is $170,000 to $180,000 per year.
Work authorization
- Applicants must have full working rights in Australia; visa sponsorship is not available.
