Key skills for this role
You'll build, optimize, and harden the pipelines and APIs that power our transition to an agent-ready release platform. In this hands-on, execution-heavy software engineering role, you will be building the release pipelines to allow both humans and AI agents to safely and consistently deploy infrastructure and application code.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oakland, CA office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home on Tu/Fr.
Dive deep into Gradle/Bazel configurations and our Java build graph to improve cache hit rates, parallelism, and resource utilization for our monorepo.
Systematically identify and eliminate flaky tests and unstable infrastructure in our CI pipelines to ensure green builds provide highly trustworthy signals.
Build automations that generate FedRAMP and other audit artifacts from our pipelines, reducing manual toil while improving our compliance posture.
Shift logs and build outputs toward structured, traceable formats and implement clear, idempotent APIs to lay the groundwork for safe orchestration by future automation.
Use tools like Terraform and Helm to define and evolve the infrastructure that powers our builds and deployments, managing configuration drift, health, and scaling across target environments.
Drive complex release engineering projects end-to-end—including scoping, technical design, execution, rollout, and post-launch improvements—while providing technical mentorship to peers.
You have 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on Release, DevOps, or Platform Engineering in cloud-based systems.
You have strong proficiency in Java or a similar statically-typed language, and comfort scripting in Python and/or Bash.

The Engineering team solves problems that are genuinely rare in their scope and scale. Few companies operate on the volume and variety of data Everlaw does, and even fewer must make that data instantly searchable, explainable, secure, and trustworthy enough to stake a legal case on. By balancing technical power with a remarkably intuitive experience, Engineering builds systems that help legal teams find the truth in mountains of evidence faster and with greater confidence.

When a lawsuit or investigation happens, teams must comb through vast amounts of electronic evidence — emails, documents, chats, files — to find what matters. That work is not a side task but the case itself, and where most of the time and money in litigation goes. Everlaw is the litigation and investigation management platform changing that, using AI to turn mountains of messy data into the handful of facts that win or lose a case, compressing weeks of work into hours.
We're the kind of place that's ranked #1 on G2 in our category and named a Great Place to WorkTM by our own team. So if you want a front row seat to an industry in transformation, career-defining work you'll be proud to tell people about, and real upside at a company in control of its own destiny, we'd love to get to know you.
