The Role
Sofar is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for maritime route optimization, vessel performance modeling, and voyage analysis.
The role develops software for U.S. Government and defense customers.
The position is hands-on and focuses on software that models vessel performance and evaluates maritime routes.
Core Work
- Refine optimization algorithms and translate vessel performance and fuel-consumption models into software.
- Build simulation and evaluation tooling and improve how route recommendations are scored and explained.
- Work on voyage optimization, route evaluation, vessel modeling, constraints, transit time, fuel efficiency, and operational considerations.
- Develop clear, explainable results that help users evaluate optimization recommendations.
- Contribute to algorithms, models, services, APIs, testing, and related software components.
