AI Engineering Team
AECOM’s AI Engineering team builds AI-driven technology for infrastructure and building design and engineering.
The team combines startup-like speed and ownership with AECOM’s engineering scale and domain expertise.
The role sits at the intersection of software engineering and machine learning operations.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build platform services, evolve system architecture, improve reliability, and resolve issues.
- Make sound technical trade-offs involving database design and schema evolution.
- Deploy, monitor, and optimise AI workloads using Python and strong software engineering practices.
- Ensure machine learning models run reliably, efficiently, and at scale.
- Turn research into production-ready tools and build production-grade systems.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Solid Python programming skills with FastAPI, Flask, or Django experience.
- Hands-on production experience deploying and monitoring machine learning models.
- Knowledge of Docker containerisation and experience building GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working within startups or scaleups and building production-grade systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, Agile delivery, and software development best practices.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of CPU-bound and GPU-bound workload optimisation.
- Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack monitoring and observability tools.
- Experience with Terraform or Azure.
- Experience resolving bottlenecks in distributed machine learning workloads; CUDA or low-level language knowledge is a plus.
- Experience building design automation products in the construction industry.
Hiring Process
