About the Team and Role
The team develops customer-focused features including content discovery, search, Roku Pay, subscriptions, embedded software, and firmware.
The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to embedded UI development, algorithms, architecture, scripting, and third-party integrations.
The role requires a proven record of shipping high-quality software on embedded platforms.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop core features of the Roku Channel app and Roku OS.
- Work with product development, UI/UX design, platform services, and release management teams.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues.
- Develop tools that support the wider Roku development community.
What Roku Is Looking For
- Experience developing UI applications using popular frameworks.
- Strong embedded C++ experience.
- Strong TypeScript experience.
- Experience writing functional, integration, and unit tests.
- Understanding of memory management and multithreading.
- Understanding of API design, considerations, and trade-offs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Consumer electronics experience with media, content, or advertising products is beneficial.
- Experience working in streaming is a plus.
Hybrid Work Approach
- Teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday.
- Fridays are flexible for remote work, subject to role and office policies.
