Role overview

Caterpillar is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack Developer for the App Services for DT&D GCIO team in its Cat IT Division.

The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable applications.

Experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain domains is a strong advantage.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack Java applications across frontend and backend components.
  • Modernize legacy application components using current frameworks, architectures, and design patterns.
  • Ensure application scalability, performance, reliability, high availability, and fault tolerance.
  • Manage source code with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement security concepts throughout the application lifecycle and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Perform independent programming, project management, and development assignments.
  • Resolve complex technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support calls.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, application support, and enhancement.
  • Contribute to architecture and technology selection decisions.
  • Document software designs, processes, and implementation details.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering software through design, analysis, programming, integration, debugging, testing, and implementation.
  • Proven Java experience across frontend and backend systems.
  • Strong experience with Angular, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and other Java frameworks.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, relational databases, and SQL.
  • Experience designing large-scale systems for performance, scalability, high availability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Copilot or other AI/GenAI tools for software development, testing, or automation.
  • Experience implementing application security on AWS or other cloud platforms and remediating vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of AWS or Azure.

Preferred skills

  • Manufacturing or Supply Chain domain experience.
  • DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
  • AWS services including Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, Athena, S3, RDS MySQL, and ECR.
  • SonarQube, CodeQL, Artifactory/XRay, or Fortify.
  • Docker or Kubernetes.
  • AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer.

Schedule

  • The position requires a five-day work week.
  • Shift timing is 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST.
  • The role may require off-shift and weekend support calls.

Workplace

  • The preferred location is Bangalore at Caterpillar PSN.
  • The position requires working onsite five days a week.
