Role Overview
Axon develops devices and cloud software focused on safety, justice, and law enforcement use cases.
The TASER Data Science team analyzes device telemetry and behavioral data to build training recommendations and analytical tools.
The role is a senior engineering addition to a small, technically deep, cross-functional team.
Location and Work Pattern
- The role is based in the Seattle or Scottsdale office and follows a hybrid schedule.
- Team members work onsite Tuesday through Friday and may work remotely on Mondays unless an accommodation is approved.
What You Will Do
- Build and ship dashboards, metrics systems, and recommendation tools that support real decisions.
- Deploy and operate production machine-learning models with monitoring, versioning, and failure handling.
- Build data pipelines from TASER device telemetry to analytics surfaces used by agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Set technical direction for engineering practices across the data science team.
- Work across device-side ingestion, data infrastructure, and user-facing analytics.
- Use AI tools as a core part of the development workflow.
Must-Haves
- Write strongly typed, comprehensively tested, maintainable production code in Python.
- Deploy and operate machine-learning systems in production, including model serving, monitoring, failure handling, and operational rigor.
- Shape technical roadmaps, influence peers and organizational direction, and advance goals independently.
- Define evolving problems and requirements while solving them.
- Work with messy real-world data such as device logs, behavioral data, or event streams.
Strong Preferences
- An advanced degree in a quantitative or analytical field is strongly preferred.
- Experience with ML production tooling such as model registries, serving infrastructure, pipeline orchestration, and monitoring is preferred.
- Experience with Azure ML, Databricks, Snowflake, or batch and streaming architectures is preferred.
- Experience with device telemetry, IoT event logs, or similar hardware-adjacent data is preferred.
