The Senior Software Engineer II will join the engineering team building the cloud-based Discovery Platform.
The role combines full-stack development, customer-focused product delivery, backend data systems, and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own major Discovery Platform capabilities through design, development, deployment, and ongoing operation.
- Build customer experiences for exploring and understanding protein identification and quantification results.
- Build backend systems that store, process, and serve large scientific datasets.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics, biology, product, pipeline, and algorithm teams.
- Drive technical design and architecture decisions while maintaining standards for security, reliability, and scale.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and use AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Five to seven years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Strong command of Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, and AWS cloud services.
- Experience with relational databases and understanding of columnar data stores.
- Experience designing observable, operable, monitorable, and evolvable software.
- Ability to prompt and critically evaluate AI-generated work.
- Familiarity with Parquet and AWS Athena is a plus.

- The position is located at the company’s Seattle, Washington office.

- Salary is listed at $164,000 to $221,000 with equity offers.
