RBC Capital Markets is building an internal analytics platform for institutional equities.
The platform provides real-time desk flow monitoring, research and sentiment analysis, AI-powered insights, and market intelligence.
The Senior Fullstack Engineer will build features across frontend, backend data services, and AI integration layers.
Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end features with Next.js, Node.js, Express, and Python or FastAPI services.
- Design real-time data flows using WebSockets, Socket.IO, Kafka consumers, and Server-Sent Events.
- Develop interactive charts, grids, dashboards, drag-and-drop layouts, and a conversational AI assistant.
- Maintain shared packages within the Turborepo monorepo.
- Integrate KDB+/Q, time-series data pipelines, and enterprise messaging.
- Build and optimize the authenticated backend-for-frontend proxy layer.
- Implement Redis and RTK Query caching, rate limiting, invalidation, and optimistic updates.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation and prompt-driven AI features.
- Maintain reliability through Kubernetes, Helm, autoscaling, reverse proxies, and observability.
- Collaborate with quants, traders, and product teams on trading platform features.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with significant full-stack development experience.
- Expert-level TypeScript proficiency in large, strictly typed codebases.
- Deep React and Next.js experience, including App Router, Server Components, middleware, API routes, and SSR or ISR.
- Strong Node.js and Express backend skills, including REST APIs, middleware, and asynchronous data pipelines.
- Experience with Redux Toolkit and RTK Query for state management at scale.
- Experience designing real-time systems with WebSockets, Socket.IO, Server-Sent Events, or similar architectures.
- Proficiency with MongoDB, Mongoose ODM, and Redis, including caching and pub/sub patterns.
- Experience with Turborepo, Nx, or Lerna monorepo tools.
- Experience implementing OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, LDAP or AD integration, and NextAuth.js session management.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes deployments using Helm charts.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Capital markets or financial services experience with knowledge of equities trading workflows, order flow, and desk structures.
- Python or FastAPI experience for AI or machine learning service layers.
- KDB+/Q or time-series database experience.
- AI or LLM integration experience, including RAG, prompt engineering, and streaming inference.
- Experience with Highcharts, D3, or similar financial data visualization libraries.
- Experience with ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, Solace, or similar systems.
