Role Description
Valdera is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with startup experience.
The engineer will build end-to-end systems for buyers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
The role emphasizes open-source technologies and mature, principled decisions amid competing priorities.
Role Responsibilities
- Own feature development from design to deployment while ensuring quality, scalability, and business impact.
- Build maintainable, high-performance systems for platform users and internal stakeholders.
- Plan and execute technical designs independently as business needs evolve.
- Write well-tested, modular code that prioritizes simplicity and changeability.
- Launch features without reliance on a dedicated QA team and ensure releases meet intended goals.
- Resolve technical challenges proactively, prioritize high-impact work, and collaborate with leadership.
- Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adapt to global time zones to support customer needs and urgent internal priorities.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including startup experience.
- Experience building and maintaining complex web applications at scale.
- Mature technical judgment and the ability to balance technical debt with business priorities.
- Experience collaborating with business executives and leaders.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly, navigate ambiguity, and maintain strong visual and written detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Located in the greater Bay Area and willing to meet in person occasionally.
- Eligible to work and live in the United States without visa sponsorship.
