Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Role overview

What you'll do

• Design and develop robust, high-performance features and core services for Navan's flagship product.
• Build and scale backend systems supporting global commerce, payments, issuing platforms, and payment or money ledgers.
• Develop infrastructure for automated policy management, granular administrative controls, and accounting-system integrations.
• Solve large-scale engineering challenges by improving reliability, performance, and user experience.
• Own customer-facing features from design and development through deployment and operational support.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business leaders across global teams.
• Promote best practices in code quality, scalability, documentation, monitoring, and testing.
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends.

What we're looking for

• Four to six years of experience building and scaling complex systems; exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including JVM performance and optimization.
