About the role
Camunda is an enterprise platform for orchestrating AI agents, people, and systems across business processes.
The Distributed Systems team builds the streaming platform underlying Camunda 8's Orchestration Cluster.
The role focuses on durable, highly available, horizontally scalable systems for mission-critical customer processes.
What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for the distributed streaming platform.
- Lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives from technical requirements through delivery.
- Improve disaster recovery, backup and restore, multi-region, and multi-tenant capabilities.
- Build tooling that helps developers and operators understand and safely run distributed systems.
- Improve CI, testing, and local development workflows with DevOps and Core Application teams.
- Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations for complex production issues.
Must-have qualifications
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend or distributed systems.
- Experience leading medium-to-large initiatives, writing solution designs and project plans, and coordinating multiple teams.
