Role Overview
The Software Development Engineering role focuses on designing, developing, and testing software systems for enhancements and new cloud-based or internet-related products.
The team supports innovation and collaboration while improving the Qualys technology platform.
Responsibilities
- Research, prototype, and develop solutions to improve the technology platform.
- Design and implement distributed, scalable, high-performance microservice-based applications.
- Produce high-quality software using scalable architecture and design principles.
- Design and implement microservices using Spring Boot.
- Work within the full Software Development Life Cycle.
- Connect microservices to databases and work with streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Identify and resolve software bugs.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, code review, and delivery.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development and Spring Boot.
- Understanding of relational databases such as Oracle and/or NoSQL databases, preferably Cassandra.
- Professional experience with Elasticsearch and caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and application design.
- Experience with Continuous Delivery principles and tools such as Kubernetes, AKS, or Docker.
- Familiarity with AI-powered coding assistants such as Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools to measurably reduce development cycle time.
