Overview
The Senior Software Development Engineer L4 is expected to successfully work through complex tasks independently, understand the intricacies of the software development life cycle, and display strong adherence to fundamental software engineering principles in the production of software.
This position sits within the Vigilanz team in the Provider Business Unit, with a focus on backend C# and T-SQL development.
The engineer will contribute to import product functionality, performance optimization, and internal utility and migration tooling, operating with a high degree of independence and strong engineering discipline.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, testable code using a test-first approach where possible; participate in design and code reviews with other engineers;
- Design, implement, and unit test software following defined processes; fix defects and manage assigned integration, testing, and deployment tasks;
- Contribute to import product functionality, backend performance optimization, and internal utility and migration tooling;
- Collaborate with product management to scope and estimate enhancements; contribute to end-of-iteration demos and team retrospectives;
- Write and maintain documentation covering program logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections;
- Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work;
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success;
- On-Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience; proficiency in C# required as the primary development language for this role;
- Strong T-SQL skills required, including query development, optimization, and troubleshooting;
- Experience with Git or comparable version control tooling required; Snowflake experience is a plus;
- Advanced design, debugging, and coding skills with a focus on security, scalability, and software best practices;
- Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning, feedback, and improvement;
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology required;
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
