Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Company Overview

Responsibilities

• Establish and evolve SRE best practices, including reliability principles, error budgets, incident response, postmortems, and operational readiness.
• Define and drive observability strategy covering system health, performance, reliability, SLIs, SLOs, alerting, dashboards, and service health indicators.
• Design software-driven infrastructure solutions that automate manual processes and eliminate operational toil.
• Act as a technical leader across cloud infrastructure, reliability tooling, and platform architecture.
• Own large, ambiguous initiatives from concept to delivery while aligning engineering, security, and product stakeholders.
• Improve platform resilience, scalability, performance, and compliance through software, infrastructure, and security expertise.
• Identify systemic risks and reliability gaps and lead platform upgrades and architectural improvements.
• Improve developer workflows, tooling, and operational maturity with engineering teams.
• Provide technical mentorship, architecture guidance, and design and code reviews.
• Lead documentation and knowledge sharing across systems and processes.
• Help mature incident response, escalation practices, and post-incident learning.

Desired Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in site reliability, infrastructure, or platform engineering roles with demonstrated impact at scale.

Reliability and Troubleshooting

• Expert-level troubleshooting across the entire stack, from application to kernel to network.
• Strong command-line proficiency and deep expertise in Linux systems and operating system fundamentals.
• Advanced understanding of load balancing, proxies, DNS, TCP/IP, NAT, and service-to-service communication.

Software and Automation

• Experience working across multiple languages, including Python, Go, and Bash, with familiarity troubleshooting application stacks such as React or similar.
• Strong record of automating repetitive and complex operational work to reduce toil and increase reliability.
• Ability to design and build internal Python or Go tools that standardize and scale engineering practices.
• Comfort operating in an agile environment with disciplined testing and quality practices.

Cloud and Platform Engineering

• Deep experience with cloud platforms; AWS is preferred, while GCP or Azure is acceptable.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration, including EKS, Helm, lifecycle management, and operational best practices.
• Proven experience designing and implementing observability systems for metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
• Deep understanding of container technologies, security scanning, secrets management, dynamic configuration, and microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with service meshes and advanced traffic management concepts.

Infrastructure as Code

• Experience designing and maintaining company-wide IaC codebases using Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Ability to consider infrastructure design, cost, reliability, security, and long-term maintainability holistically.
