About This Role

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex pharmaceutical facility projects, including manufacturing plants, laboratories, cleanrooms, packaging facilities, quality control spaces, utilities infrastructure, and capital improvement programs.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients and oversees all phases of project delivery, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction management, commissioning, validation coordination, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing projects within FDA-regulated and GMP-compliant environments while leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional outcomes.

This is an onsite/hybrid role located in Tarrytown, New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pharmaceutical facility projects from conceptual planning through commissioning and occupancy.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risk management strategies.
  • Coordinate design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and validation activities.
  • Manage project scope, cost, schedule, quality, and contract performance.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide executive-level reporting on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve change orders, budget forecasts, and invoicing activities.
  • Lead contractor and consultant selection processes, negotiations, and performance evaluations.
  • Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
  • Oversee commissioning, qualification, and validation coordination activities supporting operational readiness.
  • Mentor and develop junior project managers and project engineers.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all project activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of project management experience delivering complex capital projects.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or other highly regulated facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects exceeding $20M in total installed cost.
  • Strong understanding of GMP environments, validation processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors.
  • Strong financial management, scheduling, and risk management capabilities.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Excel, and project management software platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience with FDA, EMA, or international regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) programs.
  • Experience delivering greenfield and brownfield pharmaceutical manufacturing projects.
  • LEED Accreditation or sustainability-focused project experience.

Working Hours And Compensation Range

  • Full-Time; on-site/hybrid;
  • Compensation range based on skills, education and experience and may vary; $140,000-$200,000 annually.
  • Based out of Tarrytown, New York
