Senior Project Engineer

Transgrid owns and operates the high-voltage electricity transmission network across New South Wales and the ACT, connecting generators, distributors and major end users. As one of the largest transmission networks in the world, we're playing a critical role in Australia's transition to renewable energy delivering the substations, transmission lines and infrastructure projects that will power communities for generations to come.

We're looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Delivery team, working on Lumea Projects. You'll manage the project engineering function within the project team, undertaking detailed engineering management and support to various project teams delivering projects across our prescribed and non-prescribed programs. You'll be part of a project team or teams up to 10 concurrently based on complexity managing technical, procurement, materials, construction, design coordination and start-up and close-out items, and managing your own projects where a Project Manager isn't required. Working closely with Construction, Lumea, Procurement, Engineering Design, Project Development and Asset Management teams, this role calls for a highly collaborative, influential and technically astute person to coordinate critical projects across Australia.

Leading and mentoring junior Project Engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Managing technical RFI responses and being accountable for developing project specifications

Coordinating design responses for construction and applying technical knowledge to resolve construction issues

Managing IFC designs, as-built drawing processes and the project close-out and asset acceptance process

Leading delivery of projects where a Project Manager is not assigned

Developing and maintaining project programs, cost estimates and budgets, and identifying efficiencies

Influencing the Construction team to ensure efficient project delivery

Managing external customer design interfaces and facilitating design interface meetings

Providing expert technical advice and acting as a point of escalation for Project Engineers

Ensuring compliance with financial, audit and regulatory reporting requirements

Reporting monthly on schedule, budget and risk to the project team

A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

High-level technical knowledge of substation or transmission line asset construction

Substantial experience designing, constructing and managing large, complex infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders

High-level business and commercial acumen

A highly collaborative and decisive behaviour style, with the ability to think outside the box and drive change

Proven ability to work autonomously

Experience managing construction contracts

Experience in team management, resource management and leadership roles

Coordinate critical infrastructure projects across Australia
