Senior Project Accountant

Cash Management

• Prepare and submit weekly cash position reports to management.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items promptly.
• Monitor cash flows across assigned projects and flag discrepancies.
• Coordinate with treasury on funding requirements and cash allocation.

Tax and Audit Compliance

• Prepare and submit monthly HST returns through online filing.
• Prepare and submit annual T5018 Information Returns for relevant reporting entities.
• Maintain working knowledge of indirect tax structures applicable to real estate development.
• Prepare year-end reporting packages for external auditors.
• Coordinate audit requests, provide supporting documentation, and resolve audit inquiries.

Skills and Qualifications

• CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA designation.
• Prior experience in real estate development or construction accounting.
• At least two years of accounting or audit experience in the real estate sector.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Workplace

• The office is permanently in-office in Toronto, Canada.

Role Expectations

• Within the first month, take ownership of assigned project files and learn each project's accounting cycle.
• Within three months, independently manage construction draws, month-end reporting, bank reconciliations, and HST filings.
• Within six months, own quarterly and semi-annual reporting and proactively flag project risks, variances, and cash flow concerns.
• Within twelve months, lead the year-end audit process and independently prepare T5018 Information Returns.

Compensation

• The salary range is $80,000 to $95,000 with a discretionary cash bonus of up to 10%.
