The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of diverse and talented teachers to meet the staffing needs of New York Public Schools (NYCPS) and programs, as well as being responsible for initiatives to promote the equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. Research has repeatedly shown that teacher quality is the single most important variable in raising student learning. The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality accomplishes its work through a strategic, data driven approach that focuses on the following efforts:
Serve as the primary marketing agent and source of information to individuals seeking to become NYCPS teachers, to recruit a large, high quality, equitable and diverse pool of candidates.
Design and manage recruitment and preparation programs, and pipelines for individuals to become NYCPS teachers, especially to address subject and geographic shortage areas.
Select a diverse and high quality pool of candidates to become teachers through rigorous, research driven, screening processes.
Design and implement high quality field experiences for teacher candidates in both alternative certification and traditional pathways.
Provide inclusive best practices and support to schools to help them make optimal, local hiring decisions.
Lead pipeline and pathways to teacher certification for diverse candidates within our communities to promote an equitable distribution of teachers across all schools.
Support new teachers with consistent onboarding experiences across the system when they are hired and throughout their first year.
The Teacher Preparation Team of TRQ works to ensure aligned pipelines and coherent development opportunities that address the evolving needs of the teacher workforce in NYCPS. This work is done through the design and implementation of alternative certification programs, partnerships with institutions of higher education and ongoing learning and development programs that support teachers in building successful careers.
The Senior Program Operations & Communication Coordinator supports teacher preparation and development programs and initiatives by supporting efforts to recruit schools for teaching training programs, creating exemplary marking materials and communications and using new and existing data management systems. The ideal candidate will be prepared to support large scale data and operations functions for our alternative certification programs, as well as logistics and coordination across the full portfolio of work under the Teacher Preparation Team. The Senior Coordinator will collaborate with teams across the office to support the successful launch and implementation of teacher training and residency programs. The Senior Coordinator also supports special initiatives and facilitates the completion of cross functional projects that advance teacher preparation and development efforts. Performs related work.

School Partnerships
Recruit partner schools needed to meet the needs of TRQ’s alternative certification (NYC Teaching Fellows and NYC Teaching Collaborative) and traditional student teaching programs.
Develop and maintain a detailed project plan aligned to target goals by program.
Ensure principals are aware of key programmatic requirements.
Track schools’ commitments and capacity to support high quality program sites.
Deliver communications to principals of current and prospective partner schools, including mass messages and individual calls/emails.
Develop marketing materials geared towards partner schools.
Lead info sessions and other webinars for principals.
Communications and Customer Service
Develop high quality communications delivered to both prospective and active program principals.
Support a robust email inbox responding to school leaders, district points, teacher leaders and seasonal staff with clear and accurate information related to inquiries.
Data & Analysis
Collect and maintain data on current and perspective partner schools.
Create a system to track partnership success with input from a variety of stakeholders.
Maintain robust tracking systems as schools and teachers’ complete steps required to participate in training and certification programs.
Collect, organize and synthesize stakeholder feedback to inform reporting cycles and guide program enhancements.
Operations & Systems
Support program review and process improvements by gathering inputs, organizing documentation and tracking follow up actions.
Develop and maintain tracking systems for key program data allowing it to be accessible to office and program staff.
Support the ongoing use of relationship management systems, spreadsheets and digital platforms for pre-service and in-service teachers.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications , servers and other standard project management software.
Experience working in or with schools, particularly in urban public schools.
Experience in a fast paced environment and in an education or government setting.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize them.
Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling and interpersonal skills.
Project management experience, including goal setting and tracking, planning and implementation.
Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel, Google Sheets).
Strong written communication skills and keen attention to detail.
Ability to implement the most effective approach based on project needs; flexibility in managing competing tasks, working independently and as part of a team.
Able to organize work and set priorities for accomplishing work in a timely and effective manner, with skill in the use of project management applications.
