What You’ll Do As a Power Systems Engineer, you'll help shape the future of Australia's energy sector, working alongside industry-leading experts on major transmission, distribution, renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects.
Supporting clients across EPCM, EPC, Owner's Engineer and other delivery models nationally, you'll contribute technical expertise across the full project lifecycle, from grid connection and feasibility studies through to detailed design, commissioning and ongoing operation.
You will:
- Deliver high-voltage (HV) primary design solutions for substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, renewable energy developments, and data centres.
- Develop and review power system models, technical specifications, studies, and reports to support planning, connection, and operational requirements.
- Undertake power system analysis, including load flow, fault level, stability, and dynamic performance studies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and grid requirements.
- Support Owner's Engineer and Technical Due Diligence engagements, applying your expertise in protection systems, SCADA, transmission lines, underground cables, and earthing design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically robust and commercially practical solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, review technical deliverables, and champion Safety in Design (SiD) principles across projects.
- Contribute to proposals, client engagement, and business development activities that support the continued growth of our Power & Energy business.
- Participate in site inspections and short-term project travel as required.
About You
We're looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer with a passion for power systems and energy infrastructure.
You will bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a focus on Power Systems.
- 4-8+ years of experience delivering transmission, distribution, renewable energy, generation, or broader power systems projects.
- RPEQ/RPEV registration, or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Experience within a consulting, utility, developer, or EPC environment, delivering practical engineering solutions.
- A solid understanding of generation, transmission, and distribution networks, along with the regulatory frameworks and standards that govern them.
- Hands-on experience undertaking power system studies, including load flow, fault level, planning, and connection assessments.
- Proficiency in power system modelling tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
Experience
with ETAP, PSCAD, and/or Python will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to substations, HV infrastructure, cable systems, renewable energy projects, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and transmission and distribution networks
- Knowledge of Generator Performance Standards (GPS), stability studies, and dynamic performance assessments will be advantageous.
- Strong communication and technical report-writing skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and collaborate effectively with project teams.
