Senior Platform Software Engineer

Role Overview

Platform Software Development

• Lead cross-team evolution of robotic platform patterns or edge runtimes for interoperability at scale.
• Develop robotic studio experiences for different robotic fleets.
• Define versioning, deprecation, and rollout strategies that minimize downstream breaks.
• Drive shared observability baselines, SLOs, error budgets, and resilience patterns across services.

Software Development and Coding

• Design software solutions and analyze requirements to achieve business and operational goals.
• Develop software features, enhancements, design specifications, and documentation.
• Lead code reviews and provide guidance and coaching to engineers.
• Conduct functional and non-functional testing, quality assurance, error logging, monitoring, and observability.
• Conduct performance profiling and optimization for scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex API functionality, integrations, and software issues.

Software Architecture

• Contribute to software, systems, and service architecture and recommend project or design scope.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced developers.
• Ensure adherence to architectural standards and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Implement performance optimization and scalability strategies.
• Research and evaluate technologies for potential architectural changes.

Issue and Defect Collaboration

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer issues and align solutions.
• Provide advanced technical guidance and support for customer-reported issues.
• Suggest product enhancements based on customer feedback.
• Investigate broad maintenance issues and develop short- and long-term solutions.

Security and Compliance

• Follow development practices and coding standards while coaching less experienced team members.
• Participate in peer reviews and provide technical leadership for code quality.
• Apply industry best practices and complex secure coding practices.

Development Operations

• Perform maintenance and testing for system upgrades and critical vulnerability patches.
• Improve automation, testing, and debugging to support service availability, health, reliability, and support.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of software development and software architecture practices.
• Ability to design scalable software solutions and develop complex features and enhancements.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot complex software, API, integration, and maintenance issues.
• Knowledge of comprehensive software testing, quality assurance, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Ability to implement secure coding practices and follow software development standards.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced developers.
• Ability to lead code reviews and contribute to architectural and design decisions.
