Senior Operations Manager - Dry Bulk Shipping

Role Overview

Core Responsibilities

• Manage assigned dry bulk vessels from fixture through voyage completion.
• Plan voyages, cargo intake, bunkers, and port requirements.
• Coordinate voyage instructions and communications with Masters, Charterers, Owners, agents, brokers, and surveyors.
• Monitor schedules, cargo readiness, port congestion, berthing, and weather.
• Coordinate loading and discharging operations and review stowage plans.
• Monitor speed, consumption, bunkers, voyage performance, expenses, and disbursements.
• Handle vessel documentation including Bills of Lading, NORs, SOFs, and BDNs.
• Calculate laytime and demurrage and prepare freight, hire, and voyage accounts.
• Manage claims, Charter Party disputes, performance matters, and P&I coordination.
• Follow up outstanding freight, hire, demurrage, and other receivables.

Required Profile

• At least 5 years of hands-on dry bulk vessel operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of Charter Parties, post-fixture operations, laytime, and demurrage.
• Good understanding of dry bulk cargoes, stowage, ports, bunkering, and vessel documentation.
• Strong commercial awareness, cost-control mindset, analytical skills, numerical skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage multiple vessels and voyages simultaneously.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
• Claims and P&I experience is advantageous.
• Veson IMOS and Shipfix experience is advantageous.
• A proactive operator who takes ownership and develops practical solutions.
