Senior Observability Engineer

Automation and Observability as Code

• Standardize monitoring configurations using Terraform and/or Dynatrace Monaco.
• Automate platform operations, integration workflows, reporting, and remediation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, REST APIs, and webhooks.
• Integrate observability controls into CI/CD pipelines and establish telemetry quality standards.
• Use DQL and Grail for advanced log analysis, event correlation, notebooks, and operational insights.

Governance and Enablement

• Manage telemetry quality, alert design, data retention, platform usage, and operational reporting.
• Optimize Dynatrace consumption by tuning retention and log, metric, and trace collection.
• Build dashboards communicating service health, reliability KPIs, error budgets, and infrastructure visibility.
• Mentor engineers and partner teams on observability practices, onboarding, dashboarding, instrumentation, and self-sufficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Five to ten years of experience in observability, monitoring engineering, SRE, APM, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
• Several years of hands-on Dynatrace administration and architecture experience.
• Deep hands-on Dynatrace expertise across monitoring, Davis AI, Smartscape, RUM, synthetic monitoring, tracing, Grail, DQL, workflows, and access governance.
• Strong AWS cloud experience, especially CloudWatch, EKS, ECS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, API Gateway, networking, and cloud architecture.
• Advanced Kubernetes knowledge and cloud-native observability experience.
• Strong observability-as-code proficiency with Terraform and/or Monaco, plus Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
• Dynatrace Associate or Professional certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Nagios, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, advanced log analytics, or enterprise telemetry standardization.
• Experience integrating observability with ITSM or event-management platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Background in SRE practices including reliability reviews, error budgets, and incident reduction programs.

Compensation

• The anticipated base salary range is $85,000 to $125,000 per year.
• Exact salary depends on experience, skills, education, budget, and geographic location.
• The position is eligible for participation in a bonus program.
