Job Description and Duties

  • Effective July 1, 2025 in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 01, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 30, 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
  • This advertisement is for a Limited term / Full Time Information Technology Specialist II position located at the Information Technology Services, Infrastructure Services in Elk Grove, Sacramento County . This position is in the Information Technology Services Division, which deploys the information technology infrastructure and clinical information technology systems that enable the Department’s clinical staff to provide a constitutional level of access to care for our patients. Information technology support ensures California Correctional Health Care Services operates seamlessly, delivering consistent, cost-effective, reliable, accessible and secure services that support clinical and administrative programs; customers, including the patients, and business communities. Under the general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the IT Specialist II serves as the Senior Network Operations Engineer, demonstrating a depth of leadership and expertise while performing a wide variety of complex tasks in support of System Engineering. The Senior Network Operations Engineer optimizes and applies architecture solutions for the benefit of the overall organization and heavily participates in advising and/or formulating information technology strategy and policy within the Department. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of information acquired while performing job duties, demonstrate ethical behavior and work cooperatively with others. Travel to institutions and after hours support of California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) software applications and systems may be required due to operational need.

Working Conditions

About the location – Headquarters, Elk Grove

Located less than 30 minutes from Sacramento and Lodi, the progressive city of Elk Grove offers a great mix of newly developed housing, business projects, and recreational opportunities. You will enjoy working at our campus-style office complex with free parking, and perhaps even call Elk Grove home.

5% Travel is required to institution.

The position(s) is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
