The Role

This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for network infrastructure across EMEA data centre and AI compute environments.

The role owns network architecture, complex troubleshooting, incident resolution, reliability, and scalability.

The position reports to the Head of Operations and provides technical mentorship to L1 and L2 Network Engineers.

Location and Work Arrangement

  • The role covers EMEA and is explicitly remote.
  • The engineer works with infrastructure, data centre, security, vendor, and connectivity teams across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise network design, implementation, and lifecycle management across routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex incidents and lead root cause analysis for high-impact issues.
  • Lead network designs for EMEA deployments and capacity expansions.
  • Define network security architecture, including segmentation, VPNs, and firewall policy standards.
  • Drive capacity planning, scaling strategy, automation, and tooling to improve reliability.
  • Maintain documentation, diagrams, configuration standards, and change records.
  • Mentor L1 and L2 engineers and represent networking in stakeholder and vendor discussions.
  • Support hardware and carrier discussions and participate in the EMEA on-call rotation.

Skills and Experience

  • Six to ten or more years of Network Engineering experience with progression into senior or lead technical roles.
  • Strong experience in data centre, enterprise, cloud, or ISP environments.
  • Expert routing and switching knowledge, including BGP, OSPF, VLAN, and STP.
  • Enterprise network architecture experience and large-scale firewall, VPN, and load-balancer experience.
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5, Cisco, Arista, or Juniper technologies.
  • Network incident response, root cause analysis, and high-availability network security experience.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and manage stakeholders across multiple regions.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related discipline is required.
  • Advanced certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent are highly regarded.
  • Data centre and high-performance compute networking experience, including InfiniBand, RDMA, or low-latency fabrics, is strongly preferred.
