Own the design, deployment, and day-to-day reliability of the network fabric connecting Hack The Box data centers across the US, EU, Singapore, and Australia.
The network supports a global cyber simulation platform requiring low latency, high availability, resilience, observability, and scalability.
Location and work mode
- The role is associated with Europe and Greece.
- Candidates may work fully remotely across Europe or relocate to the Athens Tech Hub with relocation support.
- In Greece, candidates within 55 km of the Athens office follow a hybrid model, while candidates beyond that radius may work fully remotely.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement spine-leaf architectures across multiple data center sites.
- Operate and troubleshoot BGP peering, route policies, and prefix filtering.
- Build and maintain EVPN-VXLAN overlay fabrics for Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity.
- Configure, upgrade, and harden Juniper QFX and MX equipment running JunOS.
- Automate network operations with Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, SNMP, and streaming telemetry.
- Plan capacity upgrades, site bring-ups, and hardware refresh cycles.
- Collaborate on networking requirements for VMware, Kubernetes, and Ceph clusters.
- Document designs, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in regional network incident on-call rotations.
Required experience
- At least 5 years of professional network engineering experience focused on data center networking.
- Deep hands-on BGP experience across multi-site environments.
- Proven EVPN-VXLAN design and operations experience.
- Strong JunOS and Juniper QFX/MX proficiency.
- Knowledge of spine-leaf architectures, VLANs, VRFs, and inter-VLAN routing.
- Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Nornir.
- Comfort with Linux networking fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting and written communication skills.
Additional qualifications
- Cybersecurity-mindedness is a plus.
- Bonus experience includes multi-region data centers, Ceph, Kubernetes networking, JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP certifications, Golang, or cybersecurity-focused companies.
