The role and its impact
Xero is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to help build the Xero Accounting App, a flagship mobile experience for small businesses.
The role focuses on React Native, mobile architecture, reliability, performance, and engineering excellence.
This is a hands-on senior role with ownership of complex mobile features from idea through production and ongoing operation.
The team is currently working on
- Build and evolve React Native features for banking, invoicing, payments, notifications, tasks, and file management workflows.
- Own complex features end to end, contribute to technical design, and shape APIs and data flows across mobile and backend systems.
- Evolve a scalable React Native architecture and establish patterns that help teams ship faster without compromising quality.
- Take responsibility for production availability, performance, accuracy, security, and scalability.
- Automate manual processes, identify recurring failures, and participate in incident response and post-mortems.
- Improve engineering efficiency through automation, AI-assisted development, and simpler technical systems.
- Raise engineering standards through mentoring, technical guidance, code reviews, and sound engineering judgement.
