Role overview
Build and operate the Xero Accounting App, a flagship mobile experience used by small businesses worldwide.
Bring native iOS or Android engineering expertise to Xero's transition toward a React Native architecture.
Own complex mobile features from idea through production and influence technical design, architecture, and engineering practices.
Current team priorities
- Build mobile experiences for banking, invoicing, payments, notifications, tasks, and file management.
- Shape APIs and data flows across the mobile and backend boundary.
- Help define appropriate boundaries between native and cross-platform development.
- Support availability, performance, accuracy, security, and scalability for a large active customer base.
- Automate processes, investigate recurring failures, and participate in incident response and post-mortems.
- Improve delivery efficiency through system simplification, automation, and AI-assisted development.
- Mentor engineers and raise standards through technical guidance and code reviews.
Candidate requirements
- Experience building and shipping production mobile applications using Swift for iOS and/or Kotlin for Android.
