Responsibilities
- Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
- Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
- Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
- Write and edit mechanical specifications. Select equipment, mechanical systems and devices
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
- Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
- Provide construction contract administration as needed
- Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical system design of commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings
- Data Centre, Semiconductor, Healthcare, Laboratory or Sports facilities experience
- Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired
- Experience using AI productivity tools to accelerate project workstreams including technical writing, code and specification research, and performance simulation and modelling
- Strong communication and listening skills. Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Good organizational skills, confident curiosity, strong analytical judgment, leadership potential
- Ability to rigorously audit, validate, and verify all AI-generated outputs (calculations, code interpretations, and routing designs) against core mechanical engineering fundamentals and regulations.

Further, the position requires:
Compliance with HDR and, as applicable, contractor safety policies and procedures.
Potential attendance at job sites to support design and construction activities.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
