We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Digital Delivery Group.
In Western Australia, our 90-year partnership with the water sector has cultivated strong client relationships and a deep understanding of their challenges, equipping us to assist them in preparing for what lies ahead. While our team primarily services Australian regional Water Authorities and major mining firms, we also cater to a wider variety of industrial clients. Through our digital delivery structure, in this diverse role you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the planning and execution of mechanical engineering projects for water utilities, local government, and resources industry clients. You will be technically skilled in water/wastewater treatment projects and will exercise sound judgement and initiative while undertaking your project responsibilities.
Leading and/or contributing to high quality multi-disciplinary technical outcomes, to ensure a seamless solution.
Leading the technical design development of mechanical aspects of systems and equipment for projects as a senior member of the water business group.
Application of engineering best practices, client standards, Australian and/or International standards.
Development of detailed project plans outlining scope, timeline, budget, and resource requirements.
Client collaboration to; foster ongoing relationships, define project requirements, address concerns, provide technical expertise, and deliver water/wastewater solutions.

Leading and/or contributing to winning work and market-led innovative offerings.

A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, recognized in Australia.
8+ years’ experience as a mechanical engineer, working on water/wastewater treatment or transfer projects.
Specific experience to fulfill the role, including: Writing technical specifications and/or datasheets for mechanical equipment for water and wastewater treatment across municipal and industrial applications. Sound understanding of hydraulic principles and hydraulic system design. including system hydraulics, pump calculations and pump selection. Piping design. Metallic and plastic. Above ground or below ground installation, and design considerations. Loading considerations for in-line mechanical equipment. EG API 610/650 nozzle allowable loads. Experience in the detailed mechanical design of water/wastewater treatment plants. Knowledge of Australian and international pumping and piping design codes. Knowledge of water/wastewater industry best practice and/or the application of municipal water authority design standards. Knowledge of Australian and international mechanical design codes (EG ASME suite).

Highly desirable experience that will set you apart from other candidates:
Working knowledge of WANDA hydraulic modelling software.
Working knowledge of CAESAR II stress analysis software.
Experience in all design phases – concept through to detailed design.
Prior application of Water Corporation design standards.
The role will typically involve being responsible for several concurrent tasks, proposals or projects and therefore ability to manage competing priorities in a professional and proactive manner is highly desirable.
Proven ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively both across our business and externally.
Strong writing and communication skills to produce high quality reports, proposals and to liaise with clients.
A willingness and ability to lead junior team members and mentor graduate professionals.
