Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview

Education and Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Professional license or registration is required where applicable.
• Membership in ASHRAE, ASME, the Saudi Council of Engineers, or a similar body is preferred.

Experience

• 6–10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 3–5 years in fit-out, interior construction, or MEP contracting.
• Experience with commercial, retail, hospitality, office, or residential fit-out projects is required.
• Experience coordinating with landlords, base-building consultants, and local authorities is required.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and applicable Saudi mechanical design codes.
• Experience with HVAC design, duct sizing, air balancing, load calculations, chilled-water systems, and VRF systems.
• Strong knowledge of water supply and drainage systems.
• Experience with sprinklers, fire pumps, and standpipes.
• Familiarity with tenant HVAC connections to base-building systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Carrier, or similar mechanical design software.
• Knowledge of energy-efficiency and green-building requirements is preferred.
• Understanding of Saudi authority approval processes, including Civil Defense and relevant utilities.

Project and Site Responsibilities

• Review and validate shop drawings, technical submittals, and material submissions.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, and other MEP disciplines to resolve clashes.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks, testing, and snagging for mechanical works.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to support procurement and installation quality.
• Prepare BOQs and technical specifications and support tendering and estimation.
• Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and HSE standards.

Soft Skills

• Coordinate and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight fit-out schedules.
• Resolve on-site technical issues using strong problem-solving skills.
• Mentor junior engineers and mechanical site staff.
