Strategic Contribution
- Directs implementation of department strategy ensuring alignment to functional strategy, EGA’s vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
- Ensures departmental strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented.
- Ensures provision of subject matter expertise for assigned domain and provide counsel to EGA leadership.
Leadership
- Manages effective achievement of department objectives through effective leadership and setting of individual objectives.
- Leads talent development initiatives for assigned department.
- Acts as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics.
Budgeting and Financial Performance
- Recommends department budget and monitors financial performance versus budget.
- Co defines CAPEX budgets with technology engineering and technology transfers teams.
- Drives techno commercial study of cell lining developments.
- Leads and guides development of CAPEX efficient engineering solutions.
- Maintains CAPEX evaluation of key elements of cathode casting and pot lining area.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Directs and oversees implementation of functional specifications, policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all lining development functions.
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Oversees compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls.
Planning and Design Management
- Guides planning and management of budget allocated to preparation of technology package.
- Ensures design criteria, material selection and equipment recommendations are properly documented.
- Manages effective communications with reduction development, anode development, mathematical modelling, technology engineering and smelter operation teams.
Operational Management
- Plans, leads, and guides efforts to contribute towards innovating attractive and advanced reduction technologies.
- Manages all aspects of preparation of industrial technology packages for cathode casting and pot lining.
- Provides expertise cell lining technical advice to Technology Transfer.
- Ensures cathode casting and pot lining area technology packages are developed in accordance with design criteria.
- Acts as technical expert in assigned areas for internal and external parties.
- Manages conducting of benchmarking of cathode casting and pot lining area technology packages.
- Provides subject matter expertise and guides cathode casting and pot lining new developments.
- Plans, leads, and guides management and monitoring of latest technology prototype cells development.
- Leads and guides operations of lining consultants.
- Ensures provision of technical expertise and support to Technology Transfer Contract Manager.
- May act for line manager taking some of his responsibilities on occasions of absence.
- Ensures maintenance of regular contacts with technology transfer and technology engineering.
