About the Role
CMHA Calgary seeks a Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting to lead financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and internal controls. The role manages a team of Financial Analysts and General Accountants and ensures compliance with ASNPO and GAAP.

Responsibilities
- Lead the team of Financial Analysts and General Accountants to carry out day to day finance and accounting operations
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the financial operations within each department
- Oversee the effective communication of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Work closely with Human Resources and Payroll to manage day to day and month end close entries
- Review monthly and quarterly results and implement variance reporting vs. budget
- Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet and other general ledger accounts
- Lead the month end and year end closing process
- Monitor internal controls, financial policies and procedures
- Ensure the organization is compliant with ASNPO and accounting standards
- Manage the preparation of the organization’s year end charitable tax return
- Oversee the preparation and administration of charitable donation tax receipts
- Oversee the processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience in non profit organizations
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance or related field with a CPA designation in good standing
- Proficiency in accounting software QBO, and financial management systems RBC PayEdge
- Strong technical acumen using Accounting Standards for Not for Profit Organizations (ASNPO) and Canadian GAAP
- Ability to implement strong accounting processes and streamline inefficiencies
- Significant experience with financial statement preparation and disclosure
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to think creatively
- Strong mentoring and performance management skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Videoconferencing tools
- Demonstrated success in leading a high performing team through effective coaching and mentoring
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage teams

Position Summary
- Reporting to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting manages all financial activities of the organization.
- Focuses on supporting operational departments with accurate financial information.
- Leads a team of Financial Analysts and General Accountants.
