Purpose of the Role
To support the delivery of Property Operations, Maintenance & Energy Conservation (POMEC) in IHG’s Managed & Leased Hotels. This role will focus on assessing how POMEC is being delivered on existing & new hotels entering IHG’s system before developing a plan to align current ways of working with those necessary to deliver the targeted outcomes required. The current Technical Assessment is to be used to establish current performance and align action plans as required.
Delivery and Accountability
Leads a local community/champions team that supports data collection, report consolidation, and property-level audits.
Conducts technical assessments in designated strategic properties to evaluate POMEC delivery and identify improvement opportunities.
Prepares action plans based on assessments and ensures timely follow-up and implementation across properties.
Overseas and supports the accurate reporting of POMEC activities using Quore Property Management or other agreed systems, with input from the champions team.
Monitors compliance with local statutory codes and IHG Brand Standards, supporting property teams in preparation for annual Quality Evaluations and Technical Assessments.
Guides the implementation of energy, water, waste, and carbon reduction measures, ensuring robust and verifiable reporting through IHG’s Green Engage Program.
Provides leadership, coaching, and support for engineering/maintenance champions, as well as input into the learning and development of hotel engineering teams.
Supports hotels during crisis or emergency situations, offering technical guidance and coordination.
Assists with CAPEX planning, FF&E, and maintenance reserve projects, and contributes to Property Improvement Plans where required.
Consolidates reports and delivers accurate performance updates on POMEC operations, compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
Capability, skills and knowledge of Hotel based & Regional Operation team leaders on POMEC delivery
Creation of and an embedded overarching hotel POMEC strategy
Cost effective Operations & Maintenance in line with budget
Energy, Water, Waste & Carbon reduction in line with IHG’s targets

Critical Expertise, Experience and Educational Attainment Required
Preferred - completion of a degree, certificate or equivalent experience related to maintenance and engineering
Critical expertise & recent experience:
Proven experience in the maintenance and day-to-day operations of Building Services (MEP) within a hotel or similar environment.
Hands-on experience with POMEC activities, including planning, testing, and record keeping of preventative and reactive maintenance in line with local legal requirements, safety standards, and IHG Brand Standards.
Experience coordinating or supervising small teams or champions groups to support operational delivery and reporting.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Trained in, or familiar with, the IHG Way of Preventive Maintenance (or equivalent preventive maintenance programs).
Working knowledge of hotel systems that support engineering and operational processes (e.g., Quore, HotSOS, Knowcross, Message Box or similar service optimization tools; Building Management Systems).
Understanding of brand standards and ability to apply them in day-to-day operations.
Recognized qualification in Building Services, Facilities Management, or equivalent technical discipline is desirable.
Experienced in Pre-opening / Major Renovation with Key focus towards Brand Compliances, Operational Efficiency, Brand safety & Security and Sustainability measures.
