Key skills for this role
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Army Business Development to help drive Privateer’s growth across the U.S. Army and aligned Department of Defense customers. This role will shape and execute growth strategies that connect Privateer’s differentiated capabilities to high-priority national security missions, with an initial focus on PAE-Maneuver, Army Aviation, UAS/C-UAS, PAE Fires, and the Huntsville market, while identifying opportunities to expand into adjacent mission areas, acquisition organizations, and defense markets.
Working closely with Privateer’s technical, product, and executive teams, you will help translate customer mission needs into compelling opportunities and shape how Privateer brings emerging capabilities to the Army. This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on Privateer’s growth trajectory and on missions of national importance.
Drive growth across the U.S. Army market by generating and capturing new business opportunities aligned with Privateer’s strategic priorities and revenue objectives. Own the business development lifecycle across assigned accounts and mission areas, from customer engagement and opportunity identification through qualification, shaping, capture, and transition to execution. Develop deep customer intimacy by maintaining continuous engagement with current and prospective Army customers and understanding their mission priorities, organizational structures, acquisition strategies, programmatic roadmaps, and technical needs. Build and manage a qualified opportunity pipeline by monitoring customer buying cycles, identifying emerging requirements, assessing market potential, and prioritizing opportunities based on strategic and revenue impact. Shape opportunities early and develop winning strategies by engaging customers and partners to understand emerging mission needs and positioning Privateer’s capabilities before formal acquisition or capture activities begin. Partner with engineering, product, and technical leadership to translate customer challenges into differentiated solutions, inform technology and product development priorities, and guide concepts from early customer engagement through program transition. Lead strategic capture and pursuit efforts, including selected Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), by developing capture strategies, coordinating cross-functional teams, and positioning Privateer for successful outcomes. Develop and execute customer and account strategies through targeted engagements, executive relationships, demonstrations, partner development, and other activities that strengthen customer relationships and advance opportunities. Assess the competitive and partner landscape to identify market dynamics, teaming opportunities, competitive advantages, and potential organizational conflicts of interest that inform pursuit strategy. Serve as the voice of the customer internally by translating evolving mission needs and customer feedback into actionable insights that inform revenue forecasts, technology development, product priorities, and overall growth strategy.
