About the Role
Own the systems layer of the production environment, from physical infrastructure through configuration management code.
Work as a hands-on operator and builder who handles incidents, designs scalable systems, and evaluates software and architectures.
The role is based in Chicago and is hybrid.
What You Will Do
- Diagnose and tune Linux systems under production load.
- Lead methodical troubleshooting, write postmortems, and organize follow-up work.
- Build and maintain reviewed, tested, and version-controlled configuration management code.
- Build, deploy, and operate services on Kubernetes or Nomad.
- Automate repeatable work with Bash and Python.
- Operate DNS and DHCP production services.
- Configure and troubleshoot Nginx and HAProxy.
- Support Redis and RabbitMQ in production.
- Manage VMware, Xen, or KVM virtualization environments.
- Use Vault for secret storage, credentials, policy, and rotation.
- Maintain Elastic Stack logging and Nagios, CheckMK, or Icinga alerting.
- Use Git and pull requests for infrastructure changes.
