Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate complex maritime and commercial agreements
- Manage own matters independently and work closely with commercial stakeholders
- Handle charterparties, carriage and towage agreements, vessel transactions, shipbuilding contracts, financing, joint ventures, corporate matters, regulatory issues and insurance
- Exposure to disputes, compliance and wider commercial contracts
Requirements
- UK or common law qualified lawyer
- 7 10 years of relevant shipping experience
- Strong experience in shipping transactional work, including charterparties, vessel transactions and related commercial agreements
- Good knowledge of contract law and maritime/shipping law
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Personable, professional and collaborative approach, with confidence to work autonomously

Role Overview
- We are working with a maritime business that is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team in Dubai.
- This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced shipping lawyer to take on a varied, hands on in house role with significant responsibility across a global maritime operation.
- The work will be predominantly non contentious and transactional, with a focus on charterparties, carriage and towage agreements, vessel transactions, shipbuilding contracts, financing, joint ventures, corporate matters, regulatory issues and insurance.
- There will also be some exposure to disputes, compliance and wider commercial contracts.
Ideal Profile
- 7 10 PQE (English or common law)
- Strong experience in shipping transactional work, including charterparties, vessel transactions and related commercial agreements
- Good knowledge of contract law and maritime/shipping law
- Experience with corporate, finance, insurance, compliance or disputes work would be beneficial
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A personable, professional and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work autonomously.
